Rocketsimp - Sewing Themed Pokemon Ranger Game - Tumblr Blog
New sewing spree counter tracks everything you have sewn until being hit. It still keeps count over levels so you can rack up a huge score until it breaks. Also got the line to flash white like in Pokémon Rangers yay
Got the push mechanic back in. Time to bully everyone. The Knight has a new overshield that blocks attacks until it is popped by pushing it...or throwing something at it :)
This is what I got up to last night when I wasn't feeding the dog popcorn. The last time I showed the main menu it was very clunky so I rolled it back to something simpler
Redesigned the difficulty icons. Each tier of difficul-tea is based on hot drinks getting more caffinated. Starting from a babychino and building up to the espresso hard mode.
The Babychino/ accessibility mode will have the time limit for levels removed so players who struggle with the controls can enjoy the game without any obstacles
Carmile Chill/ Easy mode gives the player more time and reduces AI health
I also have plans for a hard mode called 'Espresso' that will focus on having less time but more opportunities to generate time, like your taking shots of espresso.
Seems very fitting to have a themed difficulty system for a sewing game
On an art grind while the computer is dead. Today's booty: metal hand-stitched props
Trees. Because if my computer keeps playing dead, I will be dropping a tree onto it.
Trying to make natural props look like they have been handmade and sewn. Like the Birch tree having the stitch lines
Stitched flowers featuring ermm, Septembers, Sunflower, Dandelion (wish form) and ones with petals on them :)
Still a work in progress. Been revamping the level select screen to be the Sewlar System. The goal will be to track the player's progress by having planet Lovely sewn up and repaired with each level completed.
Might start doing some dev logs soon.
There's a lot of people on here new to Game Dev, so I thought sharing my design processes and 'behind the scenes' might help inspire
Depends how much time I got because I don't post enough as is :/
Low quality sketch of my next enemy design, Jumper. It's a rabbit that can only jump...get it.
Logo to make my battle pass shovelling, micro-tranasction pumping, pre-order endorsing, early access swindling, fake footage fabricating, asset flipping, bad community manager operated, FPS loathing, abrupt studio closing, AI powered, crunch time triumphing, harassment governing, broken day one uploading, FOMO baiting game look pretty nice :)
Really wanted some palm trees after finding some gorgeous beach environments in Pokemon Rangers. I have lost an evening to palm trees.
Planet Lovely. The main stage for the very lame adventure of Sew Lovely.
I was inspired to use the setting of a hand-stitched world from the Yoshi wooly/crafted series. It was a series I discovered through my fiancé since she loves the series and is already my textile muse.
Well...cant wait to rip the planet in half for the story.
The bomb now increases its blast radius every time you circle it. Spending longer to circle it gives enemies more chance to attack you and cancel detonation. A nice risk-reward.
There is atomic-grade sewing potential here.
Slowly winning the battle of making the players circling work like Pokémon Rangers by making loops rather than one big circle. Its perfect and
The advantage of this new loop system is that damage can be shown in real-time so AI can show when they will be defeated or a shield breaks from your attacks while circling them.
Moon is next in the sewlar system
Great ball of fire. Even greater ball of yarn.
Made the sun a messy ball of hot thread. Might make it lore that cats worship the almighty sun yarn as a religion... like a Dark Souls player
New camera follows your cursor around. way better than the lame static camera.
Goin' John Wick on these innocent little buttons
This week I have been tearing the game apart to implement a much improved player mechanic. I have also been adding in new pattern themed backgrounds. Since the game is a top-down perspective these will fill the entire screen.
The main goal with these patterns was to break up the previous checkers/ square pattern that was used for every level by using fun shapes and negative space to make each level feel like a fresh scene.
New leaping attack for Baads. They can jump out of your circle if you try to sew them from a distance.
First time posting about Sew Lovely.
Its an action-packed sewing game where you circle enemies to sew them up.
After a while of development I realized it is similar to Pokémon Rangers, both share the same circling style combat...too bad I don't know what genre you define a circle em' up game
