I don't get why people just can't accept that Kris, Frisk and Chara are non binary and use only they/them.
I keep seeing Kris get misgendered as a he/him and Chara, Frisk as a she/her A LOT on YouTube comments section. And when you do explain to them that they are wrong they fucking refuse to acknowledge it and try to make excuses
" Their gender is up to the player to decide" no it's fucking not. They are referred with they/them the WHOLE game there is not one person that refers to them as "boy or girl" they are only referred as "child,kid/person" you don't get to chose their gender, you aren't them to decide that. They are their own people and have their own gender, and that is non binary stop arguing about it
"they are supposed to be a self inserts of the player" ah yes because Kris, the person that literally rips the SOUL out of their chest to regain control of themselfs, Chara, who calls you their partner and says "since when were YOU in control?" And makes it obvious that Frisk isn't the player but a kid we use as a vessel since WE sell THEIR soul to Chara are definitely self inserts of us, yea definitely/sarc. (The closest we, as the player have as a self insert is the SOUL that's heavily implied to be our presence in the game and the distracted vessel that was meant to be our body)
Sibling love <3
Its become glaringly obvious too that Toriel nor Asgore only ever mention Chara once, and it fucking annoys me.
Asgore will mention "the day after my son died," "I just want to see my son again," but not one single mention of the human child that died under their care until you spare him, and then it's "The human child that fell here long ago." Which one, old man?
Maybe he's compartmentalizing to be able to kill other human children or he blames Chara on some level, but fuck. Asriel/Flowey is the only one who mentions Chara by name, and the monsters at the castle are the only other ones that mention them at all, even though Alphys clearly knows about them from the tapes...
Chara so obviously colors their life too. Toriel leaving and trying to save any children that fell in the ruins as an act of penance, taking Chara's body with her and burying them where we first fell, literally making Chara's death soften our fall. Asgore ruling from a throne room covered in Chara's golden flowers, keeping Chara's fucking casket in his basement with the other children- implying he wasn't gonna bury them? I'm just. I get that they couldnt say Chara's name or itd fuck up the plot twist of Frisk, but not even "my children-" or "the first human child- my human child" at the same time he talked about Asriel? Nothing?
No wonder Flowey kills Asgore when he offers to become your family with Toriel. The fucking hypocrisy.

So this is the narrator speaking right. Which other voice in the game has such a complex, formal vocabulary, is so sassy and judgemental and criticizes everyone else’s taste in anime.
Why would Toby Fox include the narrator’s comments in the crochet book alongside all the others’s lines if he didn’t consider them a character like any other??? cHECKMATE ATHEISTS
would you hold hands with a ghost ?
I always wanted these three to go on tour together but it would probably just be this
'Something that probably happens after Inverted Fate' (aka the first real comic I did in my sketchbooks)
Ever since the 5th chapter of the Rift Arc, the idea of Frisk taking Chara out clothes shopping after they get settled on the surface lived in my head rent free, leading to this.
Just go check out @invertedfate man, it's amazing

haven't seen many people talk about chara's potential need for "purpose." like:
"At first, I was so confused. Our plan had failed, hadn't it? Why was I brought back to life? … You. With your guidance. I realized the purpose of my reincarnation. Power. Together, we eradicated the enemy and became strong."
how many people would come back to life and think, "what am i supposed to do with this?" instead of "why has this happened and what do *i want* to do with it?" purpose is a very specific word choice here.
it makes me wonder if chara is someone who is defined by a lack of autonomy in their life. probably linking to the angel prophecy, though also probably going back even further to their original life on the surface world. assuming they were mistreated, this hints they were very closely controlled by their human guardians. and then to fall down, be accepted by a loving family, and then hear of the angel from the surface who's supposed to set the monsters free?
this makes sense as to why they'd even kill themselves to help set monsterkind free. because it's their grand, prophesised "purpose." and, failing that but coming back to life, surely there must be a "purpose of [their] reincarnation"?
well, watching frisk/the player at work, they can either learn to trust in kindness, mercy and love, forgiving asriel and hopefully forgetting the whole "purpose" talk (hm. susie deltarune quote) OR be shown that they were not only right to use violence, they in fact should use it against everyone, they have been wronged and humans and monsters must suffer for it, they must attain power so they can eliminate this wretched world.
and they can't unsee what you've done, the purpose you've shown them, so they will use your soul to carry it out again on a post-no-mercy pacifist run.
thinking about it, they do also talk in a very grand way. not like flowey, who acts menacing and sinister and taunts you constantly. they talk very calmly (in a no-mercy playthrough) thinking about the world in a very "the grand scheme of things" way, a rotten thing that needs to be destroyed. i think, if someone believed their purpose was to destroy an entire world, they would come to speak about it and talk and think in that sort of way.
i think it adds a lot of depth to chara. they're not just an angry kid who can be swayed so easily by what you show them. they're someone who has defined themselves by a need for purpose, to do whatever they were destined to do.
it also shows, that no matter how calm and confident they seem, that they are a kid who latches on to whoever shows them love or alliance.
