my lovelies here is a piece about oikawa for you @honeykeigo, @b0ba-chan, @toshidou

you’ve always been in love with oikawa. he feels like the soft crisp breezes of spring, the warm and fluttery feeling of a lover just caressing your cheeks. you’ve memorized every crease and every callous across his hands, the way the corners of his eyes crinkle as he smiles at you, and you fall for the way he just shines on the court like the stars he so adores. you’ve always loved him. these feelings you hold weighing heavy in your chest as you beam at him, overwhelming you so completely, and you feel nothing but adoration for his whole existence. there is nothing but love for oikawa in your heart until the tiniest tug of a thought pulls at you.

it creeps in when you see him surrounded by masses of cheering supporters, it creeps in when you see him use that dangerous smile of his for another, it creeps in as his time spent with you slowly begins to slip away. your stomach churns at the thought of him, the thought of him not being yours, never being yours, and those promises of forever that once seemed so saccharine begin to echo, hollow, empty, and ring around your head like sharp lies. you love him so wholly, but just the idea of him leaving you for another turns your soft, sweet loving to a muddled, twisted and disgusting mess of a love. and it isn’t until you see his back growing smaller in the distance as he leaves you that you realize it was never a person that he’d leave you for. oikawa could never fully cherish someone after all.

he leaves for argentina without a word, not a whisper or a promise to his dedicated lover. and it is in his wake you realize his heart never belonged to you, it was never you. as he leaves you without a glance or a sparing thought you finally see that his heart was never yours and that his only love was in his passion, his life, his sport that he tossed you aside for. it is in this putrid depths of jealousy, the ache of loss from your lover that you break to pieces, capsizing to the stormy waves of your own emotions. you drift day by day, and only now do you finally realize you never mattered to him. your memories of the promises of forever, the whispered sweet nothings turn bitter in your veins and as you recall his sugary sweet lies they turn sour as they drift off his lips. you are left an empty and hollow version of yourself, and as you become a stranger to your past as you learn to let yourself love again, you realize that you will never love another the same. never wholly, never fully, just different. no one will ever be him. yet, as you grow and learn to forget, he still remembers.

he remembers every victory with you beaming for him in the bleachers, every soft loving smile you once flushed together and shared, every hidden kiss tucked away, his memories of you held close to his heart. oikawa sustains himself off of every moment he can remember till he comes home again. the ghost of you just an echo waiting for him, supporting him, loving him in a way he knows no one else ever will, he still sees you after every victory, and the way your eyes light up as his eyes finally catch yours, glimpses of you in the faces of those he passes by. he plays as the king of the court should, his newfound family in his team always supporting him, his adoring fans always waiting for him. he wins as a king always should, as oikawa always should, he wins as he is supposed to, is expected to. oikawa was never meant to lose after all. but as oikawa relishes in his victories, a hard-earned sweat dripping down his face, the smile on his face is always hollow. the ghost he sees of you cheering for him in the bleachers finally fades. and it is then that he realizes his forever is gone.

Haikyuu boys’ reactions when you trip

Daichi

You barely even had time to register that you tripped. Daichi is paying such close attention to you that he catches you instantly and places you back on your feet. You keep walking as if nothing as happened, but Daichi looks more closely at the road ahead of you instead of into your eyes so he can avoid the possibility of you tripping the again.

Noya

Laughs.

Asahi

Kneels down on the grown next to you and then grabs you and holds you like you’re dying in his arms…. You go along with it becasue you don’t want him to let you go just yet…

Kageyama

Doesn’t even notice

Tsukishima

Keeps walking and calls you a clutz. You could be seriously hurt but he won’t turn around to help you unless you ask for it. If he realizes you’re injured he’ll abandon the apathetic cool boy act faster than Kageyama can down a box of milk.

Sugawara

Catches you before you hit the ground and spins you around in the air. Calls you his “clumsy little cutie” and offers to carry you the rest of the way.

Yamaguchi

Tried too laugh it off with you but is worried the rest of the way. Every time you twitch his arms shoot out as if to catch you even though you where just bending down to pick up a pencil that fell out of you bag.

Hinata

He breaks the fall, but doesn’t mind

His crushing hug afterward is more dangerous than the fall

Oikawa

Laughs but still helps you up like a gentleman. Will never let you live down the fact that you tripped and face planted one time. ONCE.

Kenma

Just stares at you as you get up. Quietly asks if you’re ok. Continues walking like nothing happened but he has a slight blush on his cheeks and his glance wonders to you more often than before, just to make sure you’re really ok.

Kuroo

After making sure you’re ok, he picks you up bridal style and carried you the rest of the way.

If you try to object he ignores you because he knows you want to be carried just as much as he wants to carry you.

Tendou

Fake trips right after you so you don’t feel bad. Probably accidentally hurts himself in the process, but he brushes it off.

Ushijima

Silent. Dead silent. Offers you a hand and you take it but he’s not even looking at you– like he expected you to trip.

Lev

Grabs the back of your shirt to stop you, nearly choking you but at least he didn’t laugh.

𝗦𝗔𝗞𝗨𝗦𝗔 𝗞𝗜𝗬𝗢𝗢𝗠𝗜

you were studying in sakusa's bedroom for the midterm exams coming up in a week.

he was currently explaining the calculus problem that laid in front of you. your eyes were scanning the paper in confusion.

"got it?" he turned his head towards you, expecting some sort of verbal response.

you simply nodded.

"good. now try doing the next one yourself."

he stood up and took a few steps towards his original seat, sat down and continued to do his own calculus questions.

you weren't going to do the question at all. considering you didn't understand a single thing. so why not figure out your problems by being artistic?

you glanced up at his figure across the table. his wavy black locks covering his face, his mechanical pencil scribbling away in his dominant hand, and the tendons and veins laced in his arm that slightly rose when he gripped the utensil firmer.

he was hot.

so you pushed the button at the top of your mechanical pencil and began to draw a basic sketch of his slumped and concentrated build.

once your drawing was almost completed, you added some further details to finish it off.

you raised the paper in front of you, let out a quiet sigh and made a soft smile. you were staring so intently at your sketch that you didn't realise he was gazing at you, his dark eyes piercing through the paper.

"you're done?"

you lowered the paper back on the table and grinned.

"yeah. you wanna see my amazing mathematician skills?"

he raised an eyebrow in suspicion, but complied.

sakusa grabbed the paper from you, hands slightly brushing against each other.

he wasn't so cautious of germs when he was around you. you were friends since childhood and you were one of the few people he trusted most. due to this reason, his softer personality would shine through.

once he saw what you spent the last few minutes on, roses immediately bled under his skin.

"w-what?" he said under his breath, eyes widening and lips slightly parted in shock.

you let out a small laugh.

"what? did I get it right?"

realising he kept staring at your art piece. he cleared his throat, trying to keep his composure to his usual stoic state.

"it looks good."

you smirked.

"that's it?"

"yes, that's all you deserve. since you didn't even study or complete the question at all." he scoffed.

you shrugged, "well- I guess I'll get to it then."

you carefully snatched the piece of paper back and picked up your eraser, ready to remove the drawing.

"-but don't remove it... keep it there."

and so you didn't.

once the midterms were over, your grade came back with an almost perfect score.

I guess those few minutes of artistic ability were worth it after all.

𝗢𝗜𝗞𝗔𝗪𝗔 𝗧𝗢𝗢𝗥𝗨

you were ready to head to your extracurricular activity.

being the manager for Aoba Johsai's volleyball team was no easy feat.

having to deal with oikawa's excessive amount of fangirls, makki and mattsun's constant sharing of memes and iwaizumi's struggle to keep things in order.

it was tiring.

but your creative mind kept your stress at bay, as creating art was your escape from your reality.

here you are sitting at the bench with the coaches. writing down the player's regimens and match notes.

looking at the time, you noticed that it was time for their usual half-way break. you nudged coach irihata's soldier, giving him a slight nod towards the players.

he knew what you meant and called for a break.

"everyone! have a break for the next ten minutes!"

the latter let out huge sighs, stretched their tense muscles and exhaustedly strolled towards the benches.

you grabbed the bottles and towels from its cases and placed them together. giving them a water bottle and towel each, with most of them nodding as a thank you.

oikawa came to you last with his usual flirtatious grin that his fangirls die for.

"oikawa-san!" "oikawa-senpai!" "wah~ he's so cool!"

he waved at them and threw a piece sign. making them squeal louder than ever before.

you rolled your eyes and gave him his towel and water bottle. he muttered a "thank you manager-chan~"

you ignored the little name and resumed writing your notes, making sure they were in tip-top shape.

once they seemed adequate to your eyes, you decided to draw with the remaining time left of the ten-minute break.

though you needed some inspiration, so you lifted your head and analysed the gym.

your eyes immediately caught oikawa's frame. his head was tilted back, hooded lids fluttering closed, droplets of sweat running down his forehead all the way to the veins on his pale neck, his long calloused fingers wrapped around the plastic cylinder, the soft hazel strands of hair soaked in his own perspiration and his Adam's apple bobbing up and down with each gulp.

you gulped yourself.

no wonder he had so many fans.

you wanted to capture this moment, so you quickly started drawing on the bottom right corner of his page of notes. you made sure that each detail could be seen and each stroke of lead was perfect.

you were so close to finishing until he approached you on the bench and sat himself down right next to you.

"yahoo~ may I see the notes you made on me please?"

you shivered from the close proximity and quickly held your notebook close to your chest.

"uhm- just a second."

at the speed of light you added the finishing touches to your drawing, checking that he couldn't see your page from his line of vision.

you took a double-take and asked.

"you sure you want to see your notes? it's not really done-"

"yup. I'd like to see them please, I don't mind if they're not done."

you accepted your doom, he was going to see your drawing whether you liked it or not- but at least it looked decent.

the notebook you were holding was passed to him and he started to read each word from the top to the bottom.

once he reached the dreaded corner, the corner of his mouth lifted up into a smirk. he gave you a side-glance.

you swiftly shifted your vision away from him. embarrassment taking over your features.

"soo... you drew me?"

"look. I was just bored and wanted to do something with the remaining time we had left of this break- and besides, you were the only person that caught my eye in terms of inspiration."

he leaned back on the wall with his hands behind his head and closed his eyes.

"I look pretty hot in that drawing, not gonna lie."

you face him for a second, then looked away.

"that's because you are hot..." you accidentally thought out loud.

he instantly opened one of his eyes to look at you.

after a few seconds, you processed what had just happened and buried your face in your hands.

"didn't know our manager thinks of me that way~" he teased you.

"oh shut up shittykawa." you imitated his best friend, Iwaizumi.

he removed his hands from behind his head and sat up straight.

"now Iwa-chan has got you calling me that? you guys are so mean..." he pouted adorably.

𝗕𝗢𝗞𝗨𝗧𝗢 𝗞𝗢𝗨𝗧𝗔𝗥𝗢𝗨

"hey hey hey!"

you were on your way to the art club for a sudden lunch meeting when bokuto ran up to you, swinging an arm around your shoulder. akaashi following close behind.

"oomph- oh hi bokuto and akaashi!"

"me and akaashi were wondering if you wanted to sit with us for lunch? you're pretty much our best friend now so?..." bokuto beamed.

your smile immediately fell into a frown.

"sorry you guys, I have to attend a meeting for my arts club. maybe tomorrow?"

bokuto's hair deflated and his expression turned gloomy.

"aww... but I wanted to hang out with you today!"

akaashi leaned towards you and whispered in your ear, "maybe skip the meeting. bokuto will be in a gloomy mood for the rest of the day, we don't want that to happen right?"

you complied and sighed.

"alright. I'll skip just this once. let's go and eat!"

you three arrived to the fukurodani's boys volleyball team's lunch spot. which was under one of biggest cherry blossom trees on campus.

the team greeted you and everyone began to eat after they thanked for the food.

and so you ate your bento consisting of rice, pork curry, pickled vegetables and seaweed.

once you were done. you picked up your sketchbook and began to draw, to make up the time you skipped being with the team than being at the art club meeting.

you were close to drawing a cherry blossom tree that was nearby, until you wanted to draw a person. since scenery and nature was your specialty, and drawing people wasn't your forte.

you soon decided to draw bokuto, as his personality was already hitting you with inspiration for your sketch.

seizing the pencil, you started to draw your idea down.

the lead created marks of his spiky bi-coloured hair, his blinding grin, his big and rough hands, his slightly tousled school uniform and the pink petal that laid on the tip of his finger.

unbeknownst to you, bokuto was behind you. watching your every move.

you smiled with satisfaction at your final product.

bokuto yelled from behind and pointed at your sketchbook, "WHOA! LOOK GUYS! AKAASHI LOOK! THEY DREW ME!"

you jolted from the volume and closed your book.

"bokuto-san! don't scare them like that!" akaashi told bokuto from his spot.

bokuto apologised, but then asked.

"may I see again? please?"

he's already seen your drawing, so there's nothing left to hide now.

you gave him your book and his reaction made him seem like he ascended into heaven.

he was literally glowing.

"you're so talented! no wonder the art club loves you!"

you looked down to your lap, fiddling with your fingers.

maybe you should draw him more?

if he allows you of course.

On The Ground || Oikawa Tooru X Reader

|| note: this is inspired by on the ground by rose of blackpink

|| pairing: oikawa tooru x fem!reader

|| angst to fluff || from the author: my first fic after rebranding !! i hope you guys like this !! requests are open but please read my rules first !! thank you guys <3

-fic starts below the cut-

"everything i need is on the ground"

The sound of sneakers squeaking against the gym floor echoed in the spacious gym, the rhythmic thud of a volleyball bouncing reverberating through the air. Oikawa Tooru's eyes were focused, his determination palpable as he practiced yet another serve. It was his routine—volleyball was his world, and nothing else seemed to matter as much.

Except, there was something—or rather, someone—who used to matter just as much, if not more.

You.

You had been by his side since middle school, a constant presence of warmth and support, always cheering him on from the sidelines. But as the years went by and Oikawa’s obsession with perfecting his game grew, that warmth began to fade. Dates were rescheduled, conversations were cut short, and the time you once shared was slowly replaced with endless practice sessions.

It all culminated in a tearful breakup during your second year of high school. You had tried to make him understand that you didn’t want to be second to volleyball, that you missed him, the real him. But Oikawa had been too blinded by his ambitions to see the pain in your eyes.

“I can’t do this anymore, Tooru,” you had whispered, voice breaking as you walked away.

And just like that, you were gone.

The summer before his third year, Oikawa’s life came crashing down. A knee injury, the one thing every athlete feared, had struck him hard. The pain wasn’t just physical—it was a reminder of his limitations, of the fragility of the dream he had sacrificed so much for.

The clinic door swung open as he limped out, his mind a whirlpool of frustration and regret. But as he stepped onto the street, the world seemed to blur around him, his thoughts drowning in memories of you.

He remembered the time you had pulled him into a quaint café after a tough practice, insisting that he needed a break. You had laughed so freely, the sound like music to his ears. There was the time you had walked home together, your hand slipping into his as you talked about everything and nothing.

As if the universe had a cruel sense of humor, he looked up and saw you.

You stood there, just a few feet away, your eyes widening in surprise as you recognized him. For a moment, neither of you moved, the weight of the past hanging between you like a storm cloud.

“Tooru,” you finally said, your voice soft, almost hesitant.

His heart clenched at the sound of his name on your lips. He took a step forward, his gaze pleading. “(Y/N)... I’m sorry. For everything. I was a fool for letting you go.”

You swallowed, eyes darting away. “It’s not that simple, Tooru.”

“I know,” he admitted, his voice hoarse with sincerity. “But I want to make it right. I want to be the person you deserve, the person who puts you first.”

You looked at him, searching his face for something—maybe the boy you had fallen in love with all those years ago. “I need time, Tooru. I’m not sure if I can just... go back to how things were.”

He nodded, understanding the gravity of your words. “Take all the time you need. I’ll wait. I’ll prove to you that I’ve changed.”

As the third year of high school began, Oikawa kept his promise. The Aoba Johsai boys’ volleyball team noticed the difference immediately. He was still their determined captain, but something had shifted. He was softer, more thoughtful, as if he was trying to balance his two loves—volleyball and you.

He’d leave little notes in your locker, encouraging you through exams. He’d show up at your door with your favorite snacks, claiming he just happened to be in the neighborhood. The team watched, amused and supportive, as Oikawa worked to win you back.

But it was after Aoba Johsai’s crushing loss to Karasuno that everything came to a head. Oikawa was devastated, his heart breaking not just from the loss, but from the realization that he might never be enough, that all his efforts might be in vain.

Iwaizumi found you in the stands, watching as Oikawa sat slumped on the court, tears in his eyes.

“He needs you,” Iwaizumi said simply, a rare softness in his usually stern voice.

You didn’t hesitate. You made your way to the court, your heart pounding as you knelt beside Oikawa. He looked up at you, his expression crumbling at the sight of you there, by his side, where you had always been.

“I’m sorry,” he choked out, the words raw with emotion. “I tried so hard, but I still couldn’t—”

“Shh,” you whispered, pulling him into your arms. “You did your best, Tooru. That’s all that matters.”

He clung to you as if you were his lifeline, the weight of his insecurities and regrets heavy on his shoulders. And as you held him, you realized that despite everything, you still loved him. The boy who had once neglected you had grown, had changed, and you knew he deserved another chance.

“Let’s start over,” you murmured against his hair.

He pulled back slightly, hope flickering in his tear-streaked eyes. “Really?”

You nodded, a small smile tugging at your lips. “Really.”

The next thing you knew, his lips were on yours, soft and desperate, a kiss that spoke of promises and second chances. The world faded away, leaving just the two of you in that moment.

When you finally pulled apart, the rest of the team was watching, grins on their faces.

“About time,” Matsukawa teased, earning a smack on the back of the head from Hanamaki.

“You did good, Oikawa,” Iwaizumi said, a rare smile on his lips.

Oikawa smiled back, a genuine, heartfelt smile as he intertwined his fingers with yours. He knew that this was just the beginning—a new chapter in both his life and his relationship with you.

And this time, he was determined to get it right.
