re-watching rise of the guardians (for the hundredth time but whatever) and i still firmly believe that pitch used to be something similar to the guardians (specifically sandman), but lost hope in humanity or whatever and became evil

like there is no reason for him to be able to manipulate sandmans sand like that and not directly affect the others 'magic'. granted, he did say it took him awhile but that was probably the backlash from everyone not believing in him as he was most likely quite a powerful entity/spirit

also judging by his lair he was like the 'north' of the old guardians (if he wasnt the only one of his kind), as he and north are the only ones with a globe

his yellow/gold eyes might just be a hint to him being something of sandys opposite, but it could also be that he was like sandmans predecessor who took the wrong path, giving kids nightmares and fears when all they had left was their hopes and dreams

it is canon that he was around before the others came, and that they only became guardians after his turn into the darkness (literally)

When thinking of naughty fic, I think of these men.

Spooky Pitch Black for spooky season! At this point Rise of the Guardians is one of the few things I make fanart for. Props to William Joyce for creating a story and setting that never gets old.

Pitch proves himself the smartest in the room, but villains are not supposed to win.

One of the darkest implications in the film is that Jack would’ve probably faded on the spot if he took the Guardian Oath right there at the North Pole, as he had no believers. The Guardians’ lack of foresight and strategy with this… Jack should have called them out, like when Pitch called them out for gathering together without thinking about the angles he could be playing (the lack of Jack’s sass in moments like these were appalling). I would’ve just rode away on the wind the moment Pitch finished talking about the “catch” of being a Guardian. Like, wow, basically dodged a magic bullet (and death for the second time) 🥳🥳🥳.

Y’KNOW. That’s actually a good point. 😂 I guess they never really go into how ‘transferring’ into Guardianship works. Is there a time limit?? Does Jack have to have at least one believer by the next full moon?? WHAT IS THE FINE PRINT? It’s a contract, ALWAYS read the fine print! 🤣

And yeah, it would have been nice if Jack called them out on that. :/ Like, care to explain why you left that part out guys?? He can’t exactly help anyone stop Pitch if his strength has to come from something he clearly doesn’t have. 🙃 Lack of foresight indeed. 

Honestly, with that in mind, Pitch’s offer in Antarctica doesn’t seem quite as shady. 🤣

Things are coming along gradually at the studio, as you can see we have a couple character concept ideas put together by a few of our artists that we wanted to share with you!

The 10th anniversary of DreamWorks' "Rise of the Guardians" is coming up this November, and one of our goals is to have our official trailer for our fan-animated series, "Adventures of the Guardians" out then!
