How To University 101 - Tumblr Posts
[insert] academia / dear studyblr / look, i'm just trying to get the semester done here
it is great to dress up to study, have a nice neat desk, beautiful notes, an aesthetic cup of coffee, and read calmly.
it is also great and just as valuable, worthwhile, and productive to be scruffy, have a cluttered desk, thirty different tabs open to PubMed (or pick your favourite search engine for primary sources), five Canvas tabs, and have Colab (yes Google bad but Jupyter Notebook needs an update) running overtime somewhere in the background. it is fine for your nice(r) pens to run out and end up using an old one from who-knows-how-long-ago. it is fine to take a break from your desk and sit on your bed. you can be organized by doing stuff as simple as getting a planner and writing down your assignments and deadlines. it doesn't have to be pretty.
realizing it's coming up to university admissions season, and that as a recent undergrad/current grad student, i actually may have some hopefully useful insight?
anyhow, feel free to send me, a random internet person, an ask, whether you're stressing about choosing a major, that annoying 'Why X University' question, SAT scores, (not sure if that's relevant anymore because of COVID) reach/target/safety schools, or just general advice on how to student/how to adult.
