-> Today was so good it's weird, like I was able to do so much frl. I was finally able to go on that morning walk finally, and I felt good at the end of the day, such a productive and nice day. I will continue the morning walks and stretches.

I'm literally so proud of myself. so far these are the changes that I have seen
- I now have a sure routine that I follow every morning

I have a friday reset, not sunday, not saturday but friday this is because saturday and sunday are the busiest days of the week for me. I’m currently at home with a lot of time to myself so I mainly spend my week trying to complete tasks and achieve personal goals with the time I have my resets on fridays and this is my routine. I do some things in between all routines

Attention please
Studyblrs and academics: If you’re keeping up with Turkish news or have Turkish mutuals posting about some issues, you may have seen the hashtag #AşağıBakmayacağız (we won’t look down) trending.
Right now, many students and protesters are being subjected to police brutality and injustice due to the recent events happening in one of Turkey’s most prestigious colleges, Boğazici University.
The only thing they want to is the decision to vote for their own warden. They don’t want any political influence in their university. We, as international students around the globe should also agree on this because academic buildings should be a free place where you can think about what you want. Freedom.
I’ve seen images and been told that students feel uncomfortable because on the roofs of buildings around the university, there has been snipers. They feel threatened.
This isn’t how you should treat your youth. This isn’t how you should treat anyone. They just ask for simple democracy rights. Calling them out for ‘terrorists’ or people who want to ‘ruin’ the country. It’s so dangerous to call your own future, own youth words like that.
It’s time to reblog this important post about what is going on in Turkey. I’ve been posting about it many, many times but I don’t get enough attention of both communities I’m in and I really want you all to share it and pay attention for our fellow Turkish students.

Personal Body Image & Motivation Issues
I’m gonna have some rant/confession time with y’all, because the studyblr community is probably the most supportive community I’ve been a part of and the internet is a wonderful place of anonymity.
I hate my body, and I don’t want to hate it anymore.
To give you an idea of what my body type and situation is like, I’ll tell you that I am 5’ 2” and 200lbs. When I was younger I lived with a verbally abusive father who contributed to me developing an eating disorder (binge eating disorder, or BED). I have never been able to shake the weight or the unhealthy habits that I formed during my childhood. I try- believe me, I try to do what I can to shed some pounds. I currently run on my college’s cross country team because I love the way exercise makes me feel and I want to try to be healthy. But I still struggle with binge eating and hate the way my body looks.
I don’t want to feel this way anymore. I believe that all body types are beautiful- let that be known. I just feel heavy and gross and have so many self-esteem and body image issues because of my weight. Clothes shopping is the absolute worst. Clothes shopping makes me feel absolutely terrible about myself because most plus size clothing is a) super expensive, b) shoved in the far corner of a department store, or c) very baggy and unflattering on me. I want to fit into clothes that make me happy. I want to feel comfortable wearing shorts for once in my life. (A brief tangent on wearing shorts: My cross country team consists of eight very fit girls, and our coach only orders these skin tight shorts for competitions. I can’t wear the shorts because they don’t even fit me. Last year he gave me the mens’ shorts to wear but this year they changed the cut of the mens so now their shorts don’t work with my body type either. I don’t know what I’ll be wearing to track meets this season and it feels terrible to not fit.)
I feel it is best to at least share with the studyblr community because you guys are great at sending positive vibes and help keep each other accountable. I am going to start being more conscious of my eating habits and adding some extra bodyweight workouts to my weekly cardio/track workouts. On top of that, I have been doing yoga and trying to make little mental changes to improve my negative thoughts towards my body. Having an accountability buddy (or even just a friend) during this attempt to help me learn to love my figure and be healthy would be greatly appreciated.
Alright, my rant/confession is over. I am going to go back to reblogging study tips and aesthetic photos of study sessions.

accommodations i’ve had approved as an autistic college student
helloooo today i finally had a meeting with the disability office and have accommodations after 2 years of being in college without them. im autistic and have cptsd/dissociative issues and had a hard time finding what was even available to me to request for accommodations so i wanted to make a list to help anyone else who might be having trouble.
• Priority registration
i get to register for classes earlier each term to make sure i can create schedules that’ll work for my routine
• Extended time on assignments
self explanatory i think? was also offered extended time on tests or a separate room to take them but testing isnt where i struggle
• Flexible attendance
as long as i email beforehand i dont have to stick as strictly to professors attendance policies
• Alternative formats
if i buy a physical textbook i can request the ebook/pdf/audiobook for free to have multiple methods of studying depending on what works for me on a given day
• Note taking
allowed to audio record class and send to a service called messenger pigeon who will give me a transcript of the class and professional notes based on it
• Access to lecture notes
able to access professors lecture notes prior to class/instruction
• Devices
allowed to have phone/ipad/laptop for social buffering and notes in classes that may have policies against electronics
• Flexible participation
no cold calling, option to work alone for group projects/assignments, not required to present in front of class

20231002 (day 1)
gonna start trying to make a little daily update post/journal entry on here so hi heres day 1
cultural anthro got canceled so i scheduled a study abroad meeting during that time. i started my applications for summer 2024!!! i’ll be spending two months somewhere that ill reveal later when its all confirmed (ive wanted to go to this place for years now, my fingers are crossed so hard theyre gonna break). also started planning my spring semester since the course listings came out. spent most of the day on campus and explored the library a bit more, its 11 floors ??? and thats only 1/2 libraries on campus. made plans for my partner to come to campus w me one day to check out our museums and more of the beach/harbor.
currently at the dance studio i intern at, just took a class and am dying. but ! might be able to perform or be part of a project here soon :) gonna try and do some homework or reading while i wait to film for the next class then ill have to lock up and go home.
quick question before i go, can people tell me about their study abroad experiences? like where’d you go, how long, did you have scholarships/price of the program (if youre okay with sharing), etc
midterms tomorrow!
i have 2/3 midterms tomorrow but heres how im feeling about them all in general
- Bio Anthropology: been going crazy studying for this one since this midterm will include the most information (covers 4 chapters + videos we’ve had to watch for homework). feeling pretty good for the most part but a little iffy on cell structure stuff.
- Cultural Anthropology: little confused on what this one will actually cover. we havent had any assignments and havent read any of the book and no study guide was provided so im quite scared tbh lmao
- Archaeology: this only covers 2 chapters and has been my favorite class this semester so far so im fairly confident but again no study guide so not sure exactly what to expect
kinda worried i wont get enough sleep tonight bc i accidentally took a 4 hour long mid afternoon nap but fingers crossed all goes well in the morning lol

i got an 84% on my cultural anthropology midterm. was hoping for better but some of the wording in the questions was hard for me to process, i also hate online exams so happy with the result.
archaeology midterm is next monday then i think thats the last of the exam anxiety until finals
How did you get those accommodations? Asking not for a friend
I met with my schools disability center over a zoom call with an advisor from there to go over my documentation & what i struggle with. They went through with me to see what they could offer that I might need and sent me back a list with all the information about each, as well as links to academic coaching for executive function skills. All students with accommodations get priority registration at my school no matter what though.
school updates!
- been making friends finally and im really happy (i knew a total of like 3 people at my community college after going there for two years)
- midterms are done! still waiting on grades but very happy its over
- just met with my advisor today to finalize my class choices / make sure they make sense and ill get to register next week for spring! finally starting language classes (mandarin) up again
- really enjoying all my major classes so far
- currently struggling with my ethnomusicology seminar (assignments/topics are interesting but we have no textbook and kinda hate my professor) and am a few chapters behind in dinosaurs simply bc dinosaur biology & anatomy is overwhelming for my brain so i keep putting it off
- meeting w academic coaching office this week to get help w above issues
- had my first performance over the weekend with the dance crew i joined on campus !! it was scary there was a much bigger crowd than i expected but it went well and now we’re preparing for a showcase at the end of term :)
