My Boku No Hero OC: Hoa Sen Bom πΈπΊπΏ
Snippet #1
TW: light description of injuries
βIβm not as bad as the others say, you know.β Villain tried.
βQuiet, Villan.β Heroβs Sidekick barked.
βOoh, so scary. Truly, Iβm shaking in my boots.β Villainβs Sidekick scoffed.
The cuffs rattling was the only other sound as the group made their way through the hospital wing.
βIf you just talk to Hero-β
Heroβs Sidekick cut Villanβs plea off. βIβll do what I want, thank you.β Villain sighed. There really was no way to get anything through their thick skull. Just like Hero warned.
Heroβs Sidekick opened a door at the end of the hall, shoving Villain through before entering themselves. βThank you, Heroβs Sidekick. You can take Villainβs Sidekick to the medbay and check over their wounds.β
Out of the corner of their eye Villan saw their sidekick and Heroβs Sidekick back out of the room. Villain wasnβt for sure, but they couldβve sworn they heard one of the sidekicks whispering. Something about going somewhere private.
βI figured they could use some time alone.β The Hero clarified after the door closed. They stood, crossing the room to get a proper look at Villain. The Villain felt handsβ ever so lightlyβ brush against theirs, the handcuffs clattering on the floor a heartbeat later. Villain didnβt dare look up.
βLook at me.β
Villain wrapped their arms around Hero instead.
βHey,β The hero lifted the villanβs chin. Shallow cuts, split lip. A black eye. Tears rolling down their face. βLook at me.β
Their eyes met.
βTell me who did this to you.β
Snippet #2
βYou know what I think?β Heroβs sidekick asked.
βYou think?β Villanβs Sidekick laughed.
The other scoffed and tossed a piece of candy at their foe, grinning when it hit them in the face. βYes. Now listen. I think I have a plan to get Hero and Villan together.β
βOoh, do tell. But it had better involve something illegal.β
Heroβs Sidekick smile widened. βHow do you feel about getting kidnapped by Vigilante?β
βBy who?β Vigilanteβs head peaked around a corner. βWhy would I be kidnapping them?β
βYouβre kidnapping both of us. And itβs to get Hero and Villain together.β Hero glanced between Vigilante and the hideout decorations. βWe can stay here, they donβt know where your base is.β
βThat is both a terrible and incredibly stupid idea. But Iβm down to getting those two together. Letβs do it and see what happens.β
The next morning, the three of them made the 6 oβclock news.

When Sidekick woke up, their vision was blurry and faded. Memories of the past flooded into them, and their vision slowly regained. Slowly, they made out the ash-gray walls and the long dining table they sat at. Using context clues, they figured they were in a dining room. It was large and eerie, the ash-gray walls looming over them. The shadows of servants scurrying were on the walls, illuminated by the dim Moonlight cast from windows. They acted like finger puppets, each movement controlled by a puppeteer. They tried to move around, but their body ached. Moving just their hands, they realized they were tied up to the chair. They looked down at their body. Instead of their uniform, they had new, comfier clothing. It reminded them of a pajama set. Still, they shivered. it was barely warm enough for the cold aura.
βYouβre quite oblivious, arenβt you?β The sudden voice knocked them off guard, and they looked in front of them. Across the giant dining table, there sat Supervillain. They looked majestic and royal, like a cruel king compared to a measly villager. βAlways trying to act smart by seeing the smaller details, but too naive to see whatβs in front of you.β Sidekick didnβt dare speak. After all, lowly peasants donβt speak when in the presence of a god. The servants all around them were living proof. βI always found it quite humorous. Donβt you?β Supervillain spoke elegantly, their voice as smooth as wine. They waited patiently for Sidekick to respond, but when they didnβt, they just continued, a frown evident on their face. βDisappointing. I was hoping youβd have moreβ¦ resistance like Hero. Try to get out while kicking and screaming. Maybe some badmouthing here and there.β
βIβm not Hero.β
βI realized that,β they said, βbut it makes it more appealing. I like challenges. You seem more quiet.β Supervillain snapped their fingers and a servant appeared, setting down a wine glass in front of them. They opened up a wine bottle and poured it for Supervillain. Sidekick distracted themselves by staring at the wine slowly emerging in the glass, its ruby color like crimson blood dripping from a wound. When the servant finished, they set the bottle on the table and sat behind Supervillainβs chair, staying by their side if they needed anything more. βLike a ragdoll,β Sidekick thought.
βYou know,β Supervillain started, casually taking a sip from the glass, βIβm honestly surprised you havenβt asked any questions like a typical person.β
βI know what you do to people who step out of line.β
Supervillain set down the glass and gave a devious smile. One could mistake it for innocence if they didnβt see the devil in their eyes. βClever. Very clever. Though, I assure you, if I wanted to hurt you, I wouldβve done it by now.β
βI heard you have a habit of playing with your food.β Sidekick glared but made it softer than they would with any other villain. βManipulationβs what youβre known for, is it not?β Supervillain scoffed, seemingly offended.
βItβs not manipulation if itβs right in front of you. Iβm simply toying with how the human mind works.β They took another sip. βIβm known for giving people what they want in exchange for something I want. Itβs a deal, not manipulation.β They paused, then ended with a smirk. βBut, then again, simple-minded people see things so dangerously. Never risking a thing and keeping themselves closed off from the world. Never let themselves get close to others to ensure theyβre never tempted by said deal. I always found it amusing, donβt you?β They swirled the wine in the fancy glass, licking any residue off their teeth. βManipulation is controlling and influencing something for your desire. Deal-making ensures both parties get what they want in the end.β
βYet only one party gets what they truly desire. The other gets what they think they want, but they regret it in the end.β Sidekick spoke, not thinking through their anger. They glared again, this time with hatred. βWhat do you want from me, Supervillain.β
βAhβ¦β Supervillain grinned, satisfied with their response. βIt took you longer than I anticipated to rile you up, but better later than never, as they say.β They snapped their fingers again, and the servant rushed to the kitchen. After a few moments, they returned with another wine glass. They set it in front of Sidekick and poured them a glass. The servant bowed to Supervillain and scampered away, leaving Sidekick and Supervillain alone. βWould you mind elaborating on your words? I donβt think I understood you the first time.β
βYou trick people. You know it, I know, the whole world knows it.β
βYet it works, doesnβt it? After all, it worked on every soul who lived to regret it, and the people who regretted it in their last breath.β Sidekickβs breathing hitched. It felt worse hearing it come out of Supervillainβs mouth. βHowever, weβre getting side-tracked, arenβt we?β They took a swig at the wine, finishing it off. The wine glass in front of Sidekick remained untouched.
βYou didnβt answer my question,β Sidekick said, seething with rage. βYou like it when people ask questions, so hereβs mine. Why am I here?β
βWell, since Hero decided to abandon you and save themselves, might as well have fun with it.β
βI donβt follow.β
βOh, trust me, darling,β Supervillain said, βYou will.β The following silence was awkward, a staring contest between the two. Sidekickβs gaze kept shifting between every small movement Supervillain took. They seemed relaxed yet stern, ensuring they had the upper hand. Of course, trying to find a way out was useless, but Sidekick wouldnβt lose hope.
Groaning, Sidekick tried to argue. βHero didnβt abandon me. You set fire to a building we were patrolling in and they panicked. You canβt just blame them for that.β They breathed heavily, the fact Hero couldβve abandoned them purposely was starting to infect their mind. βThey wouldnβt. There was a lot of smoke and ash, they probably thought I already got out.β
βItβs embarrassing how you keep trying to hold onto hope.β
βItβs called trust,β Sidekick retaliated. βSomething you clearly donβt feel.β Supervillain glared, and Sidekick quickly shrunk under their deathly gaze.
βYouβre getting annoyingly bold, arenβt you.β Supervillain thought about this. βGood. I like a cute bravado from people. Just more enjoyable to see them crumble at my hands.β Sidekickβs pupils shrunk a little. They looked at the table, their reflection haunting them in the bright red wine. βSo, little Sidekickβ¦β Without Sidekick knowing, Supervillain got up and stalked towards them. Supervillainβs hand grazed their cheek, but Sidekick refused to flinch. They didnβt want to give them the satisfaction of seeing their fear. βYou wanted to know what Iβm going to do with you, right?β Reluctantly, Sidekick nodded. Chuckling, Supervillain walked being Sidekickβs tied-up figure and messed with their hair, twirling it around their fingers.
βIβm going to break you.β

for once I actually feel proud of my writing- I liked how this one came out. also, huge thanks to @avvail for the writing prompt! Check them out, they make great ones for hero x villain tropes.
prompt #75
The sidekick can feel a horrible, high pitched ringing in their ears. Fire and flame lick at their skin, charred and dirty with thick smoke. They can barely manage a hoarse wheeze, before something hard presses down on their back.
βI was hoping to catch Hero,β the supervillain murmured under their breath, and the sidekickβs throat closed up under those intense eyes. βBut I suppose youβll do.β

βI have people worth fighting for. I have the agencyββ
βA corrupt system.β
βHero and Other Heroββ
βSimple attention-seekers who manipulate the public.β
βAs if you donβt manipulate yourself,β Sidekick said, matter-of-factly. Supervillain groaned, rubbing their forehead.
βWe went over this. Youβre just refusing to listen. Itβs called making deals. Itβs also known as βbusinessβ. Manipulation is for those too weak to handle themselves. Hero, Other Hero, Superhero, everyone thereβs a manipulative idiot whoβs too weak to support themselves, so they rely on those even weaker.β
Glaring, Sidekick scoffed. βYou have no proof of that. You donβt know them.β
βBut dear,β Supervillain approached with a sad expression, though Sidekick could tell if was fake. βHave you ever thought that maybe youβre one of those weaker people?β
I miss orville... π’
βDonβt die.β
The sidekickβs hands pressed into the heroβs wound, and the hero blinked dizzily.
βWhat?β
βI said, donβt die.β
βIβm sorry, wait, who are you?β
The sidekickβs gaze had an intensity the hero didnβt know existed. Then, they grinned, and it was like sunshine.
βYour new sidekick. And I canβt be your sidekick if you have the audacity to die on my very first day, so donβt die.β
The hero blinked once more.
βNice to meet you?β
βIβll say nice to meet you when you stop bleeding out.β
βββββββββ
βDonβt die,β the sidekick reminded the hero, half laughing, half serious.
The hero rolled their eyes with affection.
βHave I ever?β
βββββββββ
βDonβt die.β
The hero glanced up.
βRelax, itβs just a graze. No bullet holes, see?β
They held their arms away from their body, twisting to show the lack of harm.
The sidekick sighed with something close to relief.
βββββββββ
βDonβt-β
βDie, yes, I know,β the hero finished. The sidekickβs eyes narrowed.
The heroβs heart twisted.
βI wonβt, I promise.β
The sidekick nodded, once.
βββββββββ
βDonβt die.β
The hero sneezed, eyes bleary.
βItβs just a cold.β
βYeah, and people die from those.β
The hero laughed, voice nasally.
βThe agency would be thrilled to have cause of death βcommon coldβ written in my file, Iβm sure of it.β
The sidekick threw a pillow at them, and brought them soup.
βββββββββ
βBe careful, okay?β
The hero snapped their head up.
The sidekick blinked at the sudden movement, mouth still half open.
βWhat?β
The sidekick cleared their throat.
βI said be careful,β they gestured awkwardly with one hand. βItβs Supervillain. They donβt pull punches.β
The heroβs mouth was dry.
βRight. Yes.β
They strapped their last piece of gear on, and turned to leave.
βOh, and hero,β the sidekick tried for nonchalance, smiling slightly. βDonβt die.β
The hero smiled back.
βββββββββ
βYou idiot,β the hero hissed, hands frantic. They didnβt know where to press, which wound to try and stop first. The sidekick coughed weakly.
βI had it handled,β the heroβs voice broke.
The sidekick managed a pained wheeze that might have been a laugh.
βMhm. Yeah.β
βItβs Supervillain, whyββ the hero tipped their head upwards, tears slipping from their eyes.
The sidekick whimpered, slightly. βYou could have gotten hurt.β
The hero pressed their hands onto the chest wound.
βAnd you getting hurt is okay?β
The sidekick didnβt answer. When the hero looked up, their eyes were closed.
βHey, no no nonono donβt do this to me, sidekick, hey,β the hero scrambled, fingers slick with blood, heart pounding. βDonβt die.β
A curse, an oath, a command, a prayer.
Donβt die.
The sidekick, just barely, smiled, tugging the hero down to whisper into their ear. Just two words. The two words.
The hero sobbed, shaking their head, pushing back to find a pulseβ
And found the silence of a waiting grave.
βββββββββ
βDonβt die,β the hero said to themselves quietly, pressing a piece of gauze to their side.
The medic watched them intently, eyes soft, but didnβt say anything.
They knew. The whole goddamn base knew.
And that was the only thing that would come out of the heroβs mouth.
βDonβt. Die.β
The medicβs mouth pressed into a thin line, eyes watering, and they vanished out the door.
The hero realized, then, that their cheeks were wet.
Two words.
An oath. A prayer. A command.
βDonβt die,β They whispered, and for a moment, just a moment, they could pretend it was sidekick saying it.
The very first words they had said to the hero.
And their very last ones, too, pained hushed whispers in the heroβs ear, a final breath.
βDonβt die.β
The hero started sobbing, then.
And they didnβt stop.
Donβt.
Die
#1 - Mind control
βWhat the hell is wrong with you?!β [Hero] screamed as they desperately tried to push [Sidekick] away from them.
What had happened in the past few hours? Why would their best friend try to attack them? After years of working together, after years of trusting each other!
But [Sidekick] didnβt answer and went for another punch into [Heroes] face. This time, [Hero] was prepared enough to catch the fist that was flying towards them.
After some moments of struggling, they managed to get hold of [Sidekicks] wrists, pinning their partner on the wall. [Sidekick] only gave a painfilled gasp and tried their hardest to get rid of the firm grip that hold them in place.
βLet go, you fucking bastard!β [Sidekick] hissed. The plain disgust in their voice shocked [Hero].
βWhy are you doing this?!β [Hero] could not hide the pain in their voice. βWhy are you fighting me?!β
But when they looked at [Sidekicks] face, all they could see was hatred.
#3 - Withdrawal
[Hero] felt horrible. They could not think straight since they were βrescuedβ by [Villain]. They should not be here. They should go back to [Supervillain] and apologise for their disappearance. They should go back soon enough so their supplier would give them what they needed.
But [Villain] was eager to keep them until [Hero] βcame back to their senses againβ. Whatever the hell that meant.
It was five days since [Villain] got them out of [Supervillains] grip and things had turned more shitty every day. Not that it would have been a surprise. [Hero] did not have a single shot since Monday morning.
Even though they knew that [Villain] was just trying to help, [Hero] could not prevent feeling irritated. They did not ask for help, neither did they want it.
βHey, are you alright?β [Villains] voice echoed through the hallways of their home. They were always keeping an eye on [Hero], not letting them alone for more than a minute. [Hero] couldnβt stand it.
βWhat the hell else.β, they just mumbled back, not sure if [Villain] had heard them.
If they werenβt so fucking weak. They would just get up and leave this whole circus! Maybe drop over at one of [Supervillains] handymen, supplying themself already with some syringes and then go back to were they got what they wanted.
[Supervillain] always welcomed them, always rewarded them if they did as they liked. And if coming back to them was not the most loyal thing they could do, [Hero] had no idea what else to go in for.
As long as they got what they needed, they would do anything. Even to for a prat like [Supervillain].
Of course, their team was missing them. They were searching frantically for [Hero], but they could not bring themself up to come back at the moment. They were tired. Of course, they missed their people too, wanted nothing more than to be with them, but right now, their team could never provide them the way [Supervillain] did.
They needed their injections.
And if the person who gave them to [Hero] was [Supervillain], well, so be it. Even if they were corrupt to the core, manipulative and simply dangerous, they were still a better option than any symptoms of withdrawal.
All the symptoms [Hero] experienced now.
They clamped their sweaty hands together. Why could they not just be left alone? The world would be just as shitty without their heroic deeds as it was before.
βHeyβ¦β, [Villains] soft voice interrupted their thoughts, βI know, you donβt really want to be hereβ¦β
What an observation.
ββ¦But I thought of something to help you to get better very soon.β
[Hero] could not supress a cynical snort. βAnd what would that be? A perfumed candle? Meditation? The power of love? Sorry, [Villain]. You canβt do anything for me. Only one person can.β
They did not see how [Villains] face deformed with wrath. [Hero] gave a languished sigh, βYou are useless for me.β
[Villain] did not believe what they just heard. Who did [Hero] think they were?! Their hands formed to firm fists.
[Hero] made a pejorative gesture. βNow hushβ¦ I donβt want to hear your slipslop.β
[Villain] could not withold it any longer. βYouβ¦ You ungrateful piece of shit!! Donβt you fucking see what [Supervillain] did to you?! What you had become because of all the bullshit they pumped into your system?!β
[Hero] had never imagined to see [Villain] get loud. It was intimidating. They were so composed and polite all the time, never screeching, never cursing. Even when they were fighting.
βYou are nothing but a pet to them!β, [Villain] spat the words like they were something poisonous. βThey did not keep you to make your shitty life great, they kept you so you wonβt be able to cross their sick plans! They kept you so they could disable everyone else who might be a threat to them! And youβ¦β [Villain] gritted their teeth, βYou just stood and delivered!β
[Villains] angry facade started to dissolve. What [Hero] saw underneath was something else. A strange sadness that gave [Hero] goosebumps. Why would they look at them like that?
βI did not intend to tell you so soonβ¦ But we need you on the battlefield and not in some drinking hole, giving yourself shot after shot!β
βTell me what so soon?β, [Hero] asked, feeling somehow queasy. They werenβt used to always cold and calculating [Villain] being so angry. Being so emotional.
[Villain] sighed. β[Supervillain]β¦ They achieved many of their goals while you were gone, you know?β They made a pause.
βWhen I said that they took the time to eliminate other threatsβ¦ It also included the murder of many people. The murder of many of your peopleβ¦ The murder of your team.β
[Hero] froze. βWhat?β
(βTW: Character death, Bloodβ)
#9 - Over
The stars don't care about us.
[Villain] smiled deliriously, bloody teeth blazing up at the dark sky. The silverish lights glinted down without any judgement or interest.
They've witnessed so many crimes, so many tragedies. And still, they don't care.
[Villain] would die here. Two shots were enough to end their useless life underneath the clear firmament. Well. Every action had its' consequences, right?
"[Hero]...? Are you there...?", [Villain] wispered and stretched out their hand. Broken fingers brushed over the ones of their enemy, hesistantly asking them to return the touch. [Villain] felt how alien blood bedewed their fingertips.
[Hero] was bleeding out too. [Supervillain] had been cruel enough to make sure their life was ending right next to [Villains]. They didn't even know something.
They shouldn't have helped. Why had [Hero] helped? This had been [Villains] business, not theirs.
"Answer me... Please.", they huffed and lightly squeezed the other ones' hand. "Are you there?"
Only cold light.
"I am here, [Villain]." [Hero] answered and gently took the other ones injured hand into their own shaking fingers. "I am here."
Miles, miles and miles away.
They were breathing together, slowly and stertorously. It was over soon. They were laying on the hard concrete and waited for the minutes to pass.
Waited for the inevitable.
And the stars shine ever so brightly.
"I don't want to die, [Hero]."
"Me neither."
A single tear rolled over [Villains] cheek. They weren't sure, if [Hero] was crying too. "Thank you for being here. For... Helping me...", they mumbled and closed their eyes when the darkness started to surround them entirely. They pressed [Heros] fingers one last time. "Thank you... I-I never wanted to die... alone.."
[Hero] smiled weakly before closing their own eyes.
"...It's been a honour, [Villain]."
(I have never written animals, so here I go with my first snippet! π I always thought there was way too less phobia-whump, so please enjoy.π Also, can anyone guess the dog breed?π)

#10 - Beg
"Fuck, get this thing off me!!", [Hero] screeched, trying to push themself further into the cold stonewall behind them.
"Goddamnit, [Villain]!!", they sobbed, eyes searching frantically for something like mercy in [Villains] face.
[Villain] just looked at them with raised eyebrows and was seemingly not the slightest bit interested in whistling their companion back. [Hero] grew desperate. "Get it off!!"
The amorphous shadow growled, ready to attack whenever it got the deadly command. "Get it fucking off, [Villain]!!"
[Hero] hated dogs.
German ones in particular.
The one in front of them was only held by the thin leash in [Villains] hand and pulled heavily into their direction. It would shred [Hero] into pieces, if their enemy let go. They just knew that.
[Villain] looked unimpressed. They made one step towards [Hero], who whimpered from fear. "I will, when you talk."
Desperately, [Hero] turned their face, blinking away the tears that started to rise in their eyes. The dog pulled ever so strongly.
"I can't talk!! I don't have anything!! I-"
Barking. Saliva. Teeth.
[Hero] squealed. They were gonna faint.
"Out!"
And it was quiet. The only thing audible was [Heros] heavy breathing. They sank against the wall with shaking legs; cold sweat was covering their ashened face.
[Villain] looked at [Hero] with a strange kind of fascination. "Your record says that you have a problem with dogs, but I never knew it was this severe.", they said, eyeing their enemy with a calculating curiosity.
[Hero] said nothing. Apart from the fear, the hot feeling of mortification rose in their chest.
They knew it wasn't rational.
Even though the fleabag [Villain] brought was a realistic thread, they shouldn't be standing there with quivering legs and tearing eyes.
[Hero] could handle worse forms of torture. All of them painful and degrading, but they could stand it. They could always stand it.
But dogs...
"You were attacked by one as a child, right?", [Villain] drawled and grinned when [Heros] eyes lowered in shame. "Funny that something so silly can drive you nuts now..."
[Villain] snickered and lightly pulled on the leash. "Up!" A deep growl emitted from the dark mutt that obeyed instantly. [Hero] could not avoid the cold shudder that ran down their spine.
"To be honest, [Hero], I didn't think you were such a wimp!", [Villain] mocked. The criminal saw the impact of their words in [Heros] abashed face and continued with a nasty smile: "For real, how did you even get so far in your fucking job? Probably slept yourself up, huh?"
"Fuck off...", [Hero] hissed and balled their fists. They felt the heat creeping up their cheeks. A huge clumb formed in their throat, making them want to vomit.
It wasn't rational.
It wasn't fucking rational.
[Hero] was strong.
Had the abilities to finish this in less than a minute.
Shouldn't even bother about [Villain] and their grilling, should've just turned and left this fucking situation.
It didn't work.
Didn't work because of those teeth viciously gleaming in front of them.
Paralizing.
[Villain] grinned and looked at their watch leisurely, unfazed by the trembling human in front of them. "You know, even though I love chatting with you, I need to hurry. My boss wants that info really bad."
[Hero] shook their head wordlessly. They had nothing. They couldn't talk, even if they wanted to.
The criminal ignored them.
"And also...", [Villain] casted a look towards their dog and looked back to [Hero] with a wolfish grin, "...she's getting hungry."
It was visible how [Hero] tried to collect themself. To force themself to keep calm despite [Villains] teasing and the growling of their companion.
[Villain] saw [Heros] fight for control, even though they were loosing more of it with every passing second.
"Well...", the criminal drawled and gestured towards the dog, "I guess we have a solution to that..."
They let go of the leash.
[Heros] eyes widened.
"[Villain], don't-!!"
"Sick'em!"
Brown-black fur was flashing into the light and [Hero] jerked up their hands with a desperate scream.
"NO!!"
The monster sank its' sharp teeth into [Heros] forearm. Crimson blood.
They violently tried to shake it off, but it didn't let go.
Wouldn't give up its' prey.
"Call it back, [Villain]!!"
It bit down again.
"Call it back!!!"
Oh god, it would kill them, if [Villain] didn't do something!
It would tear them apart.
Oh god, their arm.
"[Villain], do-" [Hero] choked on the words.
Docked tail.
Sharp teeth.
They couldn't think straight.
Listed dog.
Dangerous.
Their brain filled with black mist.
Couldn't breathe.
They were going to suffocate.
[Villains], voice, ringing in their ears: "Tell me what I want to hear."
Had nothing.
Gone in the abyss.
"I-I c-an't, I-"
No air.
They were suffocating.
Didn't [Villain] see that they were fucking suffocating?
[Hero] only shook their head. They couldn't breathe. There was no air around to fill their lungs with. Underwater.
A cold hand harshly grabbed their collar, pulling them up. "Calm down, you useless piece of shit!"
[Hero] yelped, when [Villains] fist connected with their ribcage. The crack was clearly audible.
"It's not that hard to talk, you fuckin' wussy!"
They dumped them on the ground.
Cold concrete. The smell of trash and piss in the run-down part of the city no one would search [Hero] in. Dirt that mixed with [Heros] own tears.
...And [Villains] voice, sharp as a knife.
They couldn't take it.
Couldn't take [Villain] standing nearby, as they gasped for the air that didn't seem to enter their lungs. Couldn't take it when [Villain] knelt down and grabbed their face with a cruel grin.
Where was the dog?
[Villain] only gave a chilly laugh.
"I sent her away." Then, sneering: "I can get her back if you want."
[Hero] frantically shook their head.
"I don't have anything!", they wheezed against the hands that had grabbed their wet cheeks. "Please, I don't have anything!"
An awfully triumphant grin formed on the criminals face. They pulled [Hero] closer.
"Huh...? What was that word?", [Villain] crooned in an almost gentle tone of voice.
Only now, [Hero] noticed what they just had said. Blood shot up their face.
"Say it again for me, come on. Or do you want one more round..?", [Villain] purred.
[Hero] sobbed.
No.
No more.
They couldn't take more.
Eventually, the need for survival pushed away the last bit of dignity inside of them, when they whispered:
"I-... P-please don't get it back... Please, [Villain]..."
The criminal pondered for a moment before shrugging their shoulders with a wide grin. "Hm. I guess you really are as useless as you claim. Still... Hearing you beg was worth the shot."
They stood up and gave [Hero] a last painful kick in their stomach.
"Tell me, does your team know what a sissy you are?"
[Hero] remained quiet.
The words hurt.
Hurt more than the kick, the broken rib or the arm.
Hurt, because they were true.
"If you were one of my henchmen, I would've killed you for being such a disgrace. You're lucky that your team is pitiful enough to keep you..."
[Villain] turned to leave, stepping out of the alley and whistling to get the dog. A last aspersion to put the boot in:
"Your weakness is really disgusting... You're pathetic, [Hero]."
[Villain] was long gone when [Hero] finally got up. Cold wind blew on their wet cheeks and their shaking body. Only too slowly, they managed to stop the wheezing. Took too long to get aware of their surroundings.
They were safe.
They were safe now.
With a pang, [Villains] voice echoed through their head:
You're pathetic, [Hero].
They let out a dry sob.
[Villain] was right.
It was true.
It was true and [Hero] knew it.
...They knew it wasn't rational.
