Barbie Thoughts

I think my favorite thing about Barbie is that on top of everything else it tackles it’s also a touching exploration of the beauty of life and the creation of art.

The line: “Ideas live forever.” which has been featured in most of the trailers has a completely different meaning through this exploration. It shows that it’s people who create meaning. Be it through movies, comics, toys, etc. It’s their life, experiences, and creativity that make something of the ideas and art that are made in the world.

Barbie herself wouldn’t have meaning if not for the personal inspiration that drove Ruth to create her or the way she impacts the people who play with her (at least until the end). It’s this desire to be seen and understood (and inspire) and help others to feel less alone that drives creation and creates meaning.

That meaning put into creation is found in all aspects of life. And Barbie emphasizes that life isn’t perfect. Life is hard and painful and rife with change and conflict but it’s also beautiful in its own way. Barbie is inherently optimistic about life and shows the beauty of aging. Of mistakes. Of learning and growing. And that’s what makes its final message about creation and connection hit harder. Life is imperfect and doesn’t last but you can find and create meaning in it.

And it’s this aspect of the movie that hit me the hardest and makes it really great to me.

Fuck I watched Oppenheimer I will say the auditory editing and the way they cut it for most of the movie is fucking amazing! I love the way everything was acted I wasn't expecting Josh from Drake and Josh to be there but he was chill. The way they made you feel Oppenheimer's regret and weight of his actions was so intense, fully shivered me timbers. I loved it my final verdict for Oppenheimer 8/10 (I feel it droned on a bit at the end) and Barbie 10/10 (I can't think of anything I would change)

I just finished watching Barbie and no one prepared me for the absolute breakdown I would have over the ending. Now I'm trying to recover for Oppenheimer

I miss the Barbeinheimer Trend. We Will Never get such an event in a very long time for now. These two movies became one of my favorites of all time and I am lucky I have seen both and got with them, Avatar: the way of Water and Puss in Boots: the last wish My believe in Good Movies came back, (well actually the httyd-trilogy showed me how masterful movies could be) until Kung Fu Panda 4 shut it down. Well maybe we have a Chance of such a Trend with the upcoming Jurassic World 4 and the live action Httyd. I heard they will release kinda at the same month.

Barbenheimer

There will be never again such a cinematic event like Barbenheimer, there will also never be such movies that have such incredible and intense storytelling. So Creative and spectacular at the same time. These movies are very different from each other but they have one thing in common, both want to tell a story with a deeper meaning. The Soundtracks are fabulous and as unique as everyone in this world. They really nailed it, every bit of every single detail in this unique movies. They are in my opinion one of the best movies of our time and some of the most creative ever. I‘ve rewatching both at the same time, because for my they just belong together, not only because of the Barbenheimer trend but also the stakes they set for the future of the cinema. I will also point out some Special things I noticed while rewatching. With Oppenheimer you really feel the weight on Oppenheimers shoulders as the bomb fell on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the feelings in this movie is so incredibly intense and powerful. Oppenheimers Releationship with Kitty is also very interesting, you can really feel how strong she is and they have gone to hell with each other. It’s very different to the relationship he had with Jean, but I felt the whole time that Kitty is more healthy for Oppenheimer himself. With Barbie it’s quiet different, its visually Candy for the eyes and I love how Margot Robbie portrays Barbie. My favorite scenes will always be when Barbie sits on the bench and feels for the first time all at once, then America Ferreras iconic speech and last but least when Barbie becomes finally human. But in my opinion the best part of the Barbie movie was Will Ferrell, Michael Cera as Alan and the bromance powerballad of the Ken’s.

Fun fact: Warner Bros. had released Barbie at the same day as Oppenheimer, because they were mad at Christopher Nola for not releasing Oppenheimer under Warner Bros.

I’m genuinely wondering how people are possibly coming away from Oppenheimer thinking it’s prowar/pro atom bomb. Like I have to imagine they just slept through the movie and typed up some bullshit just to get clicks. It’s so blatantly anti facist and HEAAAAVILY critical of the creation of the atom bomb and the US’s choice to bomb Japan 🤡 Absolutely wild.

(Also seeing anti semitism stir up in response which is. Just fucking awesome I guess 🙃)
