2021 Presidential Inauguration
It was a very good ritual. Core values of the community are revealed, reconfirmed, and shared. Even though the inauguration is different from rituals in "primitive" societies, both have something in common. President Biden’s speech was well written and very sincere. I hung on his every word.
I said it's a "good" ritual, it is because there are several uncertainties in all kinds of rituals. The pandemic and the insurrection changed the form of attendance and security. Potential threats were under control very well. The world witnessed White House COVID-19 outbreak and superspreading campaign rallies in the U.S. several months ago. And the insurrection in D.C. several weeks ago.
At that time of inauguration, one of the uncertainties turned for the better. When the National Anthem was sung, the sun started shining. I believe it’s a good sign.

Our New President
So, this is obviously about Trump. I’m going to be honest and not hold back. I fucking hate him and everything he stands for. I fucking hoped and prayed with every nerve in my body that he wouldn’t win. But it turned out to be the complete opposite. He is a bigoted, xenophobic, transphobic, homophobic man that I want nothing to do with (as well as other things). Statistics show that a majority of cis straight white people voted for him so thanks for that my own race. Right now, I hope that everyone that is not cis, straight, or white is safe. I hope that Trump does not do anything to harm another race or anyone apart of the LGBTQA+ community.

6. Rejoining Paris Climate Accord
7. Cancelling KeystoneXL and directing agencies to review Trump environmental actions
8. Rescinding Trump’s 1776 Commission which was the thing telling government agencies not to incorporate racial justice into their training
9. Preventing workplace discrimination of LGBTQ+ people
10. Requiring non-citizens to be counted in census and taken into account for congressional rep
11. Fortifying DACA
12. Undoing Trump’s expansion of immigration enforcement
13. Removing Muslim ban
14. Stopping border wall construction
15. Extending deferrals of deportation and work authorizations for Liberians with a safe haven in the US
16. Requiring exec branch employees to sign an ethics pledge
17. Undoing Trump’s regulatory approval process

i am going to need to write a proper DC trip appreciation post at some point so I can look at it later and be happy, but I have a lot of shit to do and it's late again and it is ten goddamn degrees outside
so for now suffice it to say there are very, very few feelings I can reliably claim to appreciate more than that of standing with hundreds of thousands of people who have all come together to celebrate our country and witness history and wave our flags at the things our president has to say
