Bored bored bored! If this is how I mean to entertain myself, I better get my eyebrows threaded this weekend, or at least pluck them.
Think this may be #LOFNOTC inspired, feels very Amanda Palmer.
What would life be like without Amanda Palmer? Mine would be much sadder and less colorful, certainly.

I don't care much for wrist watches, so I've kept a pocket watch for years now. It died a couple of months ago and I hadn't gotten around to fixing the battery until today. I think it's going to be nice, having it back.
Now that I know which battery it calls for and how easy it is to change out, I doubt it'll ever take me so long to replace again.

Austen got an extreme makeover! He looks hilarious, and so much smaller. Scrawny like some kind of rat, it's amazing. All day I just kept looking at him and cracking up.

The Lady wanted to make a flowerless chocolate torte, and I was able to find the recipe she uses for it. Turned out amazing, better than usual. Made all the Gossip Girl drama much more bearable to watch.

I dunno! I'm tapped out on pictures, f'realz. I just went round my room taking pictures of random things. This dusty guy sits on my Mercedes Lackey shelf, along with adult Simba and young Nala.

I'm not as nerdy or intelligent as I first come off in person, but I am, without a doubt, extremely lame. This is not the only photo of The Wizard of Menlo Park I have taped up in my room, just sayin. This particular one is situated right next to my record player, of course, which is named Bing. (After Crosby. And it's a Crosley. Soooo, you know, Bing Crosley. :D? :D? :D?)
Just sayin...

On the day I buy my kindle, I also find out that the closest bookstore, Borders, is closing. This is sad for many reasons, the strongest being that I spent a large portion of my youth there. I bought my first Tamora Pierce book in that store, my first Harry Potter book, whet to more than one Midnight Party for more than one series.
Certainly doesn't help that I went digital on the same day. Feels like I cheated on an old lover and was promptly dumped.

I dunno, when in doubt go abstract? I remember taking photography in middle school, walking around the school while everyone else was in class, taking pictures of random things. This reminds me very much of that, except for how it's in color.
What would Mrs. Tunon think of me now, I wonder?

I have so many things to do before Tuesday, but I can't even bring myself to write them down, let alone actually do any of them. I'm excited and not as nervous as I could be, but I still can't shake off this lethargy.

I can't seem to stop buying makeup! It's addictive.

First day back at school. Looked and smelled exactly the same. I guess I should prepare myself to come home smelling like Salon again, shouldn't I?

Just playing with the long exposure, y'all know how I do. Need to try this shot another time, with less distance. Cutting the time pretty close again on this one, the camera says it was 11:58pm.
And now I must sleep, because I have to be up at 6am to get ready for school.
I've never read or seen Othello, but for some reason I've been rather taken with this line lately. I even used it as my mantra in a reiki circle, when I was having trouble concentrating.
Maybe if I write my resume this week, I'll reward myself by renting Othello and watching all of the Iago scenes repetitively. Should read it instead, but probably don't currently possess enough higher brain function to get through it's entirety.
Moloch! Moloch! Nightmare of Moloch! Moloch the loveless! Mental Moloch! Moloch the heavy judger of men!
I've been obsessed with this one photographer lately, and decided to reread the story that got me into him in the first place. It also happens to be the story that once had me listening to Howl on repeat for a week. It's not even a very good story? But I love what it's left me with.
Every summer my mother falls in love with the scent of this plant someone in our neighborhood has. This year she finally stole a sprig, so we could figure out what it was. Mr. Googs informed us that it was Night Blooming Jasmine, so we promptly went to the local nursery and bought one for her.
We've had it a few weeks now, and it does bloom every night, but it's been particularly strong the last two days. Couldn't even open the door last night without being assaulted by the smell.
Lady : I'm running to the pharmacy, you want anything? Laur : Cookies. Ice cream. Pie! Laur : ...Actually, just get me a bag of marshmallows and a box of Fruity Pebbles. Lady : Uh, it's Walgreens, do they HAVE that stuff? Laur : Yes. Yes they do. Lady : If you say so... Laur : Fruity Pebbles! Not Rice Krispies!
What can I say? When you have a late night craving, you have a late night craving. Mine was for sugar treated with sugar coated in sugar with a drizzling of butter. *shrug*
How To : Make Your Own Lipstick/Lipgloss
source | source
1) Petroleum jelly, however much you'd like 2) Scrape some old/used eyeshadows onto jelly until you get a color you'd like (I actually did this in a separate cell, and THEN mixed it with the jelly, so I could blend the colors thouroughly.)
If you want a gloss, use less eyeshadow. I noticed the matte colors also aren't as sharp, so use those.
If you want a lipstick, use more eyeshadow, to the point where you start to think you've actually used a little to much. Glittery colors seem more highly pigmented.
3) Add peppermint extract for flavor. (And tingle!) 4) Mix together 5) Melt in microwave 6) Spread into container. (I used a $1 e.l.f compact, and it was VERY MESSY, but totally worth it.) 7) Done! You've officially made your own lipstick.
Gradient Nails, EASY
All of the gradient nail tutorials on youtube were way too labor intensive for me, until I finally found one that was just two stripes of color on a makeup sponge, stipple & repeat until you get the desired coverage. FINALLY! Something I could see myself spending a few minutes on!
I grabbed a packet pf makeup sponges today, months later, and tried it out. AMAZING! But now I can't find the video that taught me. This one comes closest.
P.S. Right hand included for posterity, even though it looks shit. The left hand looks fantastic in person, though! More so than it does in the photo. I should have switched to the other side of the sponge when I started on the right.
Re: Gradient Nails
Whatever, I get obsessive! I know! But I had to make them match my hair and jewelry, didn't I?
Again, can't find the tutorial video I learned from, but this is the closest.
P.S. Now this time the right hand came out better, rather than the left. Probably I was trying to correct for last time, and was just hyper-careful. Either way, the both hands look more like each other this time, so I'm getting better.
