Word Counter- Not Only Does It Count The Number Of Words Youve Written, It Tells You Which Words Are

Word Counter - Not only does it count the number of words you’ve written, it tells you which words are used most often and how many times they appear.

Tip Of My Tongue - Have you ever had a word on the tip of your tongue, but you just can’t figure out what it is? This site searches words by letters, length, definition, and more to alleviate that.

Readability Score - This calculates a multitude of text statistics, including character, syllable, word, and sentence count, characters and syllables per word, words per sentence, and average grade level.

Writer’s Block (Desktop Application) - This free application for your computer will block out everything on your computer until you meet a certain word count or spend a certain amount of time writing.

Cliche Finder - It does what the name says.

Write Rhymes - It’ll find rhymes for words as you write.

Verbix - This site conjugates verbs, because English is a weird language.

Graviax - This grammar checker is much more comprehensive than Microsoft Word, again, because English is a weird language.

Sorry for how short this is! I wanted to only include things I genuinely find useful.

creating oc’s

because a few people have asked me about my process of creating an oc (I dunno why omg but hey if you ask I’m 500% down to help) I’ve thrown together a little of what I’ve always done to wake ‘em up below. note that this is exactly what I said it is, my process, and it might not help. it’s just what I do in list form in order to create a new muse that’s entirely my own. intended for fandomless oc’s but use it for whatever you like!

STEP ONE. I sit down and write a concept paragraph. this is a simple 4-5 sentence paragraph – ok, sometimes longer – that includes info concerning aesthetic and personality. I keep this paragraph with me during all initial character development to make sure I’m staying true to my original idea, but don’t be afraid if the muse takes the reigns and suddenly you’re revising it. don’t be afraid of change. example: abel decote is ankles caked in mud in the heat of the southern summer sun; he is questions and cold milk and that smell from the air conditioner when it’s just kicked on. sometimes I make a moodboard on pinterest too, or browse around on 8tracks for a playlist that sets my intended tone. STEP TWO. I tackle character development surveys available to me right here on tumblr. good examples of this can be found here, here, and especially here. I also browse places such as @fuckyeahcharacterdevelopment, the rest of @writeworld and then @museinspo‘s character development tag. sometimes, I buy a notebook and start throwing all this stuff down on paper. it’s really relaxing for me and helps the information stick, but not necessary. here is where I figure out my faceclaim, too. STEP THREE. this I consider the ‘third draft’ and honestly it’s the one that helps me the most. since I live with someone who is also in the tumblr rp community / a writer, I grab her and try to explain my muse as simple as I can while still getting my point across – kind of like the concept paragraph but said directly to another person. I know I have to make people understand my character once I start writing them, so that’s why I feel this step is so important. if you can’t hash them out to an interested party over some coffee, though, take to skype or text messaging! don’t overdo it, don’t give out too many details, but narrow what details you do have down to what is absolutely necessary (after all, you can elaborate in your bio, your stats, your headcanons tag, or in your threads). you’ll notice as you try not to ramble that things’ll really start to solidify.  STEP FOUR. once again, don’t be afraid of change. it’s your muses job to reveal themselves to you and trust me, they will. let them. if something isn’t working, alter it. if they aren’t feeling exactly what you want them to be, don’t push it. prepare for a few live revisions of that original concept after you’ve already introduced them to the world. I mean, that’s part of the beauty of rp.  STEP FIVE. love them loud and love them proud. although not every character is meant to interest everyone in the audience, how passionate you are about what you’ve created will usually set the tone. dive in deep and don’t be afraid to bring them (and everyone surrounding them, especially npc’s!) to life. the more tangible they seem, the better. the more you are absolutely smitten with them, the better. the more you are enjoying yourself and having fun with it all, the better.

important ship tropes:

fake dating

SECRET dating

being locked in a room or trapped in a small space

huDDLING FOR WARMTH

BEING ON THE BRINK OF ADMITTING THEIR FEELINGS FOR EACH OTHER BUT THEN GETTING INTERRUPTED

finishing each other’s sentences, KNOWING WHAT THE OTHER IS ABOUT TO SAY

tou chi NG!!!! FOr eheA DS!!!!!!11!!

wearing each other’s clothes

doing that thing where they accidentally get real close and, like, stare meaningfully at each other for a few seconds too long

channeling the inner romcom and having an epiphany about how much they care about each other and RACING TO CONFESS THEIR LOVE

fucking. Now or Never Kiss

HEIGHT DIFFERENCES

defending each other to scathing tertiary or otherwise minor characters but ONLY WHEN THE OTHER ISN’T AROUND

reincarnation or time loop or OOOOH TIME TRAVEL SCENARIOS

dramatically saving each other from certain death or barely surviving something that almost makes the other break down and just smirking wearily and mumbling flippant smartass remarks to HIDE THE DEPTH OF THEIR FEELINGS

undercover as lovers, the classic

ALMOST KISSING. like getting so close that they start to close their eyes and hold their breath and then SOMETHING HAPPENS and they jump apart, that is MORE VALUABLE THAN ANY ACTUAL KISSING

casually sitting on each other’s laps during ensemble cast conversations or scenes
